Thunderbird was upgraded today on my 64-bit Ubuntu Lucid laptop and it promptly disabled Lightning because the official Lightning plug-in is only compiled for 32-bit machines.
This is BAD! Being a fairly disorganized person, I really rely on that calendar to remind me of important details in my life like the fact that I'm supposed to pick up my daughter from school today. Saying, "It's not my fault; my calendar plugin was disabled by an upgrade." is not going to cut it when her teacher calls and asks why my daughter is STILL sitting there waiting for me long after school has ended.
Fortunately, there's a 64-bit version of Lightning here.
This is for Lightning v. 1.0b2. If you are looking for a different version then go up a couple of levels to the "releases" directory, find the version you need, and then look in the "contribs" directory for that release. They also have releases for Solaris.
